3. Setup Sheets

There are three types of setup sheets contained in the VDP the first “Inputs” is to quickly input a new setup. The second “Current” shows the setup currently being analyzed in the VDP. The third “Database” is connected to the database so that previous setups can be recalled and/or modified etc.

The extract below shows the “Inputs” setup sheet

Setup Sheet Inputs

Each box on the setup sheet has a validated dropdown box associated with it so that only allowed values can be input. Most inputs are related to a more detailed input sheet so that informed inputs can be made based upon relationships with other inputs. An example of this is the “Aerodynamics” sheet where results of aerodynamic changes are displayed.

The VDP contains separate information sheets on the following items:

  • Geometry; where details of the geometry properties are to hand.
  • Engine; where details of the torque and power curves for the engine are shown.
  • Gears; where gear ratios can be selected and the terminal speed is shown.
  • Tyres; where dynamic spring rates and tyre growth/compression are shown.
  • Aerodynamics; where details of the aerodynamic setup are shown.
  • Springs; where springs and packers can be selected and combined.
  • Bars, Blades & Bellevilles; where the anti roll configuration can be selected.
  • Inputs; where weather station information and setup weights can be input.
  • Heave; where tabulated results for the car as it heaves can be found.
  • Roll; where tabulated results for the car as it rolls can be found.
  • Spectral Analysis; where optimization of parameters can be analyzed.
  • Lap Simulation; where WinTAx channels can be exported and compared with simulations.
  • Gear Ratio Charts; where gear ratios, speeds and rpm drops are show graphically.
  • Tyre Charts; where the tyre model is created and can be compared to published data.
  • Aerodynamic Charts; where the interactive aerodynamic tables can be found.
  • Spring Charts; where the packer model and packer charts can be found.
  • Heave Charts; where the dynamic ride heights and aerodynamic balance shift is shown.
